Three international conferences are taking place this year and will examine «The Synergy and Divergence between Civil Law and Common Law in International Arbitration». The Association Française d’Arbitrage (AFA) is pleased to announce that its Board of Directors has just elected Marc Henry as its new Chairman. Marc Henry holds a Doctorate in Law from the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne and is the author of an award-winning thesis published on the arbitrator’s duty of independence. He is a lawyer in Paris and was admitted to the Bar in 1988. He specializes in business litigation and arbitration, and continues to be involved in research and teaching. AFA proposes on January 18th, 2017 from 7 pm till 10 pm at the Maison du Barreau à Paris a training on the theme: «Cross-examination of witnesses: When the commow law comes to the civil-law». Marie Danis (August and Debouzy) and Caroline Duclercq (Altana), will lead this training with Pierre Duprey (Linklaters), and Peter Rosher (Pinsent Masons), Solicitor of England and Wales. They will share their experience of cross-examination as counsel and as arbitrator in particular in common law arbitrations. More information here.
